What's VeeCon? How can you get involved with or without a ticket?
And a TikTok using science to determine how many licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop
Although the crypto crash this week has made headlines, there is still a fervent community of advocates for Web3 technologies backed by blockchain, crypto, and NFTs. Don’t forget, we’re all still working out what Web3 is going to be all about.
Next week Minneapolis will be hosting Gary Vaynerchuk’s first-ever VeeCon event at U.S. Bank Stadium, which I believe will be remembered as a milestone event for the Web3 community — no matter the future of crypto markets.
The event is being called a “superconference” and is limited to owners of VeeFriends NFTs (now trading on the secondhand market for about $500), with about 10,000 attendees expected to hear from Snoop Dogg, Eva Longoria, Kevin Smith, Beeple, Deepak Chopra, Mila Kunis, Charli and Dixie D’Amelio, Logan Paul, and… Tom Emmer?
No matter how you feel about Vayner and his hustle-culture fan base and no matter how sucessful the event actually is, VeeCon is a compelling, real-world example of the value of an NFT token beyond admiring it in your digital wallet or speculating its value. Token holders will receive entrance to the event, a host of brand activations, and all kinds of perks both at this event and afterward. The event is a big bet on the part of Vayner and his friends – and even the fact he’s pulling it off is worth noting.
Beyond the big sponsors and speakers at the official event, there is a Launch Minnesota-sponsored “Massive Minnesota Meetup” and a handful of opportunities for non-token holders to get involved, too…
The team at REM5 has coordinated “a futuristic NFT afterparty” curating some of the best local Web3 innovators, artists, and entrepreneurs –– and you can attend whether you have a ticket to VeeCon or not. Check out Right Clique on 5/20 here for tickets. It will feature local Web3 innovators, including:
Keeper’s Heart (dropping their first whiskey at the event)
and more…
The team at Under Represented is putting together an Alpha House Launch Party at First Avenue on 5/19

Bonkalytics is hosting an NFT Weekend Party at The Exchange & Alibi Lounge.
Mythia is hosting an event free for anyone who holds any NFT.
And there’s also a local meetup happening this Saturday….

Are you going to VeeCon or any of these related events? Hit me up. -Greg
